I brought Dexter home last Sunday. Since then, he has avoided the two toys I placed in his cage entirely. I gave him one small toy to play with outside his cage and he will pick it up to chew on it for 2 seconds only to drop it and move away. I am not sure what to make of this. I have several others for rotating in his cage, but am not sure I should bother because I think he is actually afraid of them the way he avoids them.
What do you all think? Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Won't play with toys
its quite common ive had several irns that were totally terrified of toys for once they saw my other birds playing it was like oh thats what they are ok ill play with them now
i would suggest not changing them as he is still getting used to his new home just leave the ones in there in as he gets more settled in he will start to explore them

Thanks, I will do that. I was worried I might be terrifying the little guy on a regular basis by leaving them in there!

Its only a matter of time before Dexter understands what they
are used for. Just feed him, change his water everyday and he
should come around the corner soon.
