So, I am looking to build my own Wood & Mesh cage for my future (hopefully between October and January) baby IRN. I have it mostly planned out, but had an overall question-
I had mesh I planned to use that was left over from a rat cage project years ago, but have read Galvanised Metal is a no go (which, my mesh is). Is this truly a big concern?
My overall goal is a 36" × 36" × 47" Indoor Cage with a 12" × 15" door, and 2 Bowl Access doors either side of the cage. Of course I may upgrade to expand in the future but this seemed good to begin with. The materials I'd planned to use, are:
1.5" × 1.5" Wooden Framing
Galvanised Stainless Steel Mesh
Corflute to make base Trays
Nails to fasten the 4 Side frames
Screws to attach the 4 walls together
And Staples to fasten the mesh to the wood
With a Wooden Playgym also built ontop of the cage
The only other mesh I can really find where I live is PVC Coated Stainless Steel. Is this better?
What would the best solution be? This will be my first IRN Baby, and I don't want him to get sick, or injured etc.
