When I choose names I look at the character , colors ect, it also depends on if there is movie characters that I like the names of too.
We have
indie -lutino ring neck, his name was quick and easy
Mika - Alexandrian , if he turned out to be a girl it would be meika.
spike - ringneck , I hand raised him and he was all spikey when he started getting feathers, I keep calling her him.
Oscar - ring neck , he is Grey/green and was a grouch.
Skye - ring neck , she was purchased as a sky blue.
our blue male that we had was called shrek by our then 5yr old.

Chocobo- because IRN's remind me of the Chocobos (giant birds) in the Final Fantasy series.

Siren - the noise she makes sounds like a siren going off
kaly - after the indian goddess of destruction - another parrot pastime
drift - she/he is white and therefore snowy seemed too obvious thus snow drift

Jibby - Originally 'Gilbert'/'Gibbs'/'Giblet' because he liked grapes alot when I got him, and he was a little erm 'slow'.. Gilbert Grape from the movie.. ?? lol, but over the years, the name has morphed into just 'Jibby' or 'Gibby' and now he knows his name as this, even says his own name.

Lola - Originally Yoda, (my bf liked it), but she turned out to be female and shes not the wisest like Yoda from Star Wars, Jibbys more of a wise old owl. She already knew her name as Yoda, so I found a name that sounds similar. Lola.

How I come up with names I dont know! haha.
"Jibby aka Gilbert" Indian Ringneck 13 years "Charlie" Rex Rabbit 1 year

My IRNs are.....
Spongie, aka Sponge-Bobette- Lutino. named coz she had splayed legs and a piece of sponge was used to correct the problem.

Jasper- another Lutino. My first ever IRN and at handraising. Needed a unisex name and that was it!

Wboy, aka W@nkerboy - a grey. Was named by previous owner and I shortened it to WBoy.

Junior 'G'- a green. Was a nickname that has stuck. lol S/he is one of my last years clutch hence the name "Junior" and "G" for green.

Blue Widow- a blue. Didn't have a name until her partner died last year.

Sun Conures....
Sunny and his girl Connie together they make SUNNY CONNIEr and hopefully make lots of little suns :P

Sticky Beak- Rainbow Lorikeet. Because he just HAD to know what I was doing ALL the time and climb all over me.

Cockatiels.....
Sindel- Lutino. Was named by previous owner

Molly- Whiteface Pearl. Named her Molly as she is a pearl and pearls come fom moluscs :)

Gemma- Whiteface Platinum. Her name came from gems in jewlery that is sometimes made from platinum.

Only one bird atm. Hopefully that will change. ;D His name is Skywalker. My husband and I are both Star Wars fans. We bought him as a blue (same bird in my sig) and now he's a turquoise! started growing green feathers about 5 months after I got him. I was thrilled, as turquoise is my fav IRN color. XD So now Sky isn't as 'sky blue' as he used to be.

We get our baby in about 3 weeks from now. It will be a male.
We chose his name because we are kinda Disney Freaks.
"Zazu" is his name.

I will post a picture as soon as I re-review how to do it.

Birdie names!!

Post by wrynsmom »

Well, here's the names of my flock:

Vango - Meyers Parrot (most dense population in the wild is Okavango Delta in East Africa

Ziggy and Zazu - Meyers Parrot pair (they've done nothing for me, yet . . . bought them as a pair. I didn't name them)

'Nilla - Single Factor Turquoise Lacewing IRN (nilla wafer)

Fiona - Cinnamon green IRN (she's apple green, so Fiona Apple - but I usually call her Finoni)

Columbus - green IRN (when we met him, he was almost two months old and not clipped. he took off flying - EXPLORING - named after Christopher Columbus)

Blue Poo - American parakeet (he's powder blue and white fallow. I wanted to name him blue, but my 7 year old son wanted to name him poop . . . so we compromised!)

Pickle - American Parakeet (not a bit of green on this bird. My son named him! He's charcoal and peacock blue)

Eco - I got him during green week and everyone was talking about being Eco friendly. I thought it sounded like a good name.
