Keeping IRN's in an outside cage

My IRN (Greenie) is now living in a cage outside on the front of a kids playhouse. Will this change his temperament as he is now socialising with wild birds ( no contact but they scrounge around his cage for food etc)
Melbourne's winter can get down to 4 degrees celsius and I have made him a large wooden box ( similar to a breeding box) which he crawls into at night. He doesnt seem to mind sleeping outside? He has become a little more territorial of his cage. Can someone give me guidance as i dont want this hand reared pet to go wild!

Indian Ringnecks in general will become wild if they are not handled on a daily bases. There are many members here that keep their birds outside and they do well.

As for the box you made him not a good idea because this encourages mating behaviors and aggression even if you only have one bird.

Thanks Donna it makes sense - should I cover his cage at night to keep him warmer? or doesnt this matter

To avoid the mess (mainly droppings and food) all over the floor and also due to the size of the cage. Is yours kept inside? and is it in a general living area? or a bedroom - How often do you let it roam the house?

i have 3 irns in my loungeroom & yes they do make some mess but i prefer to have them in the house as where we live i have been told by other bird breeders in the area hawks or eagles have been known to attack avairies
also we love the interaction of the birds with the family
my final thought is 3 irns are easier to clean up after than the
3 teenagers :lol:

my birds are almost always let out first thing in the morning and
go to bedf some time in the evening what i have done to reduce the area of mees is created a sort of play gym over the top of the cage and under the cage i have a old rug that is ok for spilliage

I have my boy inside he has a big cage, he is out all day long to roam the house if he likes, he makes a big mess but a vacum cleans it up and a wipe down every few days works. I have a big messy mat under Ami's cage so he doesnt get poop all over the carpet. i would never put my baby outside i would miss him too much.
