Lice and mites....can someone explain??

Hi
One of the IRN I will soon be getting is currently being treated for lice and/or mites...not now 100% sure which, if not both. He has lost some feathers around his neck.
Could anyone explain to me more about these lites and mice...ooops...I mean mites and lice :lol:

Is it 100% cureable, are there any permanent side-effects, what are the symptoms etc. Is there anything in particular I should know about these things???? How do birds get them??

Kat where ever your getting these birds from they should be treating all the birds that have been in close contact with this infested bird.

oh goodness. Well they are deffinatelly not doing that!! I did question that with them but they said the others don't look like they have it! There were two female IRNs with the infested one - plus all the other caged birds next to these...it is a pet store after all! :cry:
