Here in Florida, ringnecks go for around 150.00 from a breeder, 300.00 from a pet shop (which I dont recommend in any state). I hope I understood your question correctly. :D

Budgies are only 20.00-50.00 here. Cockatiels about 60.00-80.00 USD.

Use a currency converter. Here we are about the same as Mik said for Ringnecks. A macaw though can go for 10 - 20 000 (AUD). Have to get out the currency converter to get your prices on that.

I did use that. You must be talking about Australian dollars. :)

----

Well.. That lowers the price even more then. :S

-----
Blue & Gold Macaws, handfed goes for the same price, 20.000 .. I think :P

----
1 AUD is 53 ISK
1 USD is 60 ISK

At bird fairs here in FL, you can get green hand-fed IRNs for less than ninety dollars- sometimes sixty! USD

In Australia, the Galah cockatoo is cheap, but here is costs 1,200+ USD since Aus. isn't allowed to export them to here. ^_^

Supply and demand. Here in FL, we have a lot of outdoor breeders. Indoor breeders have more costs to cover (electricity, buildings, etc.) so that can explain some of the higher cost. Also import and export regulations can impact the cost of the bird. If the breeders have a tough time getting new birds, the price will be high.

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay

In New Zealand we have few native parrots so anything else is treasured where they may be pests elsewhere :)

In pet stores prices for handreared IRNs are $350-400NZ
Handreared Cockatiels $150-200NZ
Handreared Budgies $35-55NZ variances are dependant on colour.

Aviary/wild birds are vastly cheaper.

It sounds like there are some shonky petshops that are out there from some of the threads I have read - at my shop we are really careful with the quality and care of all our animals/fish and birds - full dislosure as far as Im concerned or you get one unhappy owner and a miserable pet.

ha ha Jen - Auckland pet shop prices eh!!
I got Max for thirty bucks
yep $20 US, $25 Oz
Was aviary bird though...but only 4 1/2 months (getting a bit old too so some said)
Ziggy on the other hand cost......drumroll....$750!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's enzed pingers btw
Wanted one, wanted guaranteed friendly, well-socialised baby so bit the bullet and got one (and time was of the essence with Max gone and I didn't have the time to put in to another one like I did with Max). Plus the possibility of Ziggy calling drawing Max back was a factor (hasn't worked tho..).
Some breeders here can't necessarily be trusted with their "hand-reared" status, however I could have got a similar bird from Hamilton from a breeder for $200. Quite a difference, but I wouldn't trade Ziggy for anything.
Oh, and Ziggy is a blue though - not green.
You can still get hand-reared greens in Hamilton for $100 from a pet shop.
You bloody Jaffas eh
what the hell was the original question?? Oh yeah, Sunneka, is that Euros or Iceland money or USD?
Be a bit cold in Iceland for an IRN?? (and yes, I know Greenland is the icy one

...do you know Bjork? ha ha ha

THIRTY BUCKS!!! suck! hahahha Id pay $750 for a lifetime IRN companion with the right nature - if I had $750 that is!

I love the blue colour - very tempted to purchase one we have in store at the mo almost ready for sale - but alas not enuff pingers in the piggy bank :( The rest are white.

Shanti is a green, pale ring, guessing she is female after vets conclusion as likely she has had a big moult at her likely age and colour is established (I think?) her beak has had a rough time too - its sort of cracked crosswise and healed with the top red and the bottom black (we are talking about the upper beak here) Apparently it will grow out eventually.

We live in Canada. Our local breeders are selling hand fed greenies forusually $200CAD but you may luck out and find one for $150 (but usualy they will not be hand fed. Blues and lutinos go for at least $300CAD. The only rinie I've seen in a petr store her was a lutino and they were asking $499CAD for her.

Gosh doesnt the price jump in countires that have few natives - no wonder those rotten sods who tape them up, dope them and pack them like sardines try to smuggle them over borders!! :( :(

I guess in India you can pick them off trees like apples for nothing *chortle*

ha ha - a Ringneck tree!!
Wouldn't that be great!!
$750 wasn't particularly in my xmas budget either!! Nor was the new cage I got (just in case Max comes back - and on that note apparently someone has found one that won't come to them, keeps flying away but keeps coming back. Problem is they haven't rung!!)
Have a look at my attempt to cook breakfast this morning..
