Turning a male's bird into a female's?
My male bird is 12 weeks old, and i got him yesterday. When we were at the breeder he was most surprised with the way the bird sat on me as he was a males bird. Taking this as i good sign i took him home. However this morning when i got up, my bird jumped off me and flew straight to my dad, whom he had never met before. He started to make cute little chirping sounds.
Does anyone have any experience turning a 'males' bird into a 'females'?

Hi,
Ringnecks are not Seahorses .
Your bird is either, DNA sexing them would tell you exactly what he/she is.

That's not what I'm asking...haha what I was trying to say is my bird prefers males, is there anyway I can make him prefer me over them?

Someone else hopefully will answer that Q for you.

I would say start sucking up and bring your A game. You might ask the man in question to lay a little bit low as well. I can't say if that would work or not, but it might be one way to try.
That said, the day after I got my bird I had him to see a male vet with a female tech. The vet took half a look and said, "ahhh, he likes men." "Tough tuna," I thought, since there are no men in my house. Bird likes me just fine, shows no preference for male visitors.
The bird might or might not be hard wired to prefer men, but I think he will see how his bread is buttered and make the best of it. Maybe I'm an optimist. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I was thinking of doing that haha my dad is at work most of the time so it will just be me and
my Joey!
I hope he isn't hard-wired to prefer males!
But I'm going to try my best to make him prefer me!! Haha thanks for your reply!

Sounds like you need to take full advantage of when Dad is gone to work. Try to figure out his favorite treat and be the only one he can get this treat from ? Just a thought .
Just takin a break !

Re: Turning a male's bird into a female's?
Thanks so much everyone for the help! I'll definitely try out the methods suggested! My dad has completely agreed to have absolutely nothing to do with Joey, as i am moving out in a few months time so its probably for the best that they don't bond! I've only had him home for two days, and already he flies to me! I think this is great progress...very fast progress!
I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes!
