Bringing a Adult alexandrine parrot

Post by SH00T3R99 »

Hello,
I just got a adult Alexandrine parrot. I am not to sure of the age. I have had birds before but never i parrot, so i am not sure on the correct way to look after him when i first get him home. Where i bought him from is about 7 hour drive. I have just arrived home and have him in a cage with a towel over his cage in a quiet place. What should i do with him so he becomes hand tame. He seems a bit tame but is a little bitty. i read on the internet to leave them to get use of there surroundings. I also have 2 dogs is there a way to get them both use to each other. any help would be great. Is there a way to determine the age, the person i bought him off was not sure as it was his son's.

Thank-You

Did the person you got the bird from give an indication of how long the son had him/her? and was it previously hand tame?
