When will they grow back?

Post by violet »

I recently got my IRN Pakshi - who I love to bits after only a few days ^^

However when he was being handraised his cage mate pulled the feathers out of his head. This was over a month ago. How long till they grow back and look normal again? I cant say the bald patch isnt way cute but I would like him to have his crown and glory back ^^

I appreciate your help

Actually if they were pulled, they should begin to grow back sooner. You'll see little spikes at first (pin feathers). If they were only broken, then they will come back in with the next moult.

In young birds it is hard to tell when the moult will be. Some go through a 'mini-moult' first before a true all over moult. It will happen, no worries. :)

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay
