My IRN has lost his long term mate

Hi all, I recently adopted a breeding pair of yellow IRN when my partners Grandfather passed away. They are outdoors in an aviary and have thrived for nearly 12 months. During recent heavy downpours and flooding the female passed away. I am concerned for the male and am unsure if a new bird can be introduced. They were the only two birds in the aviary and have had limited contact with people. At a guess I would think he is about 5 years old. Can anyone shed some light on this issue as I have never kept birds before. Thanks in advance.

my kieron lost hes mate twice in the time i had him
he seemed to feel the loss very deeply
i would find him a new mate
do you have a smaller cage that could sit inside his avairy? if you do you could introduce them slowly
irns are naturaly flock birds and once they have been part of a bonded pair they
can get depressed being alone

I am so sorry for your loss. Poor lil man. I would get him another friend to ease is loss. As Bec said, slowly introduce them. Hope he cheers up soon.
