there is a lot of help in the behaviour & taming forum on how top get through these stages with our birds you will do fine the fact that your asking for advice before you get your bub is proof that you care & want the best for your bird
each bird gos through this stage differently
and when you get him home if you have any issues just post a question or check if anyone has posted a similar situation good luck with you new bub cant wait to see pics of him/ her

Congratulations!

I found that Janey was very quiet when we first brought her home so I wouldn't worry about your baby being quiet. She got more vocal with the baby "mewings" when she got to know us better.

He is a nice littel bird, he still don´t like hands but we are vorking on it, I hav only had him 4 and a half day now
He is VERY found of his food, he likes to mimic my lovebirds when they go to sleep they make some kanking sounds, that means they are happy, I don´t now if HE is happy when he said that, but i hope so

Sounds like the little one is settling in fine. My 2 were a little cautious for a day or so when we first got them but now you can't shut them up, enjoy the peace and quiet as it's probably the last time you'll hear it at home completely for the next 25 years.

Any pictures of the little one and his cage?

They are a little clumsy when learning to fly but get there in the end.
Just be careful he does not injure himself flying into things....especially windows. They do not realize windows are made of glass. They only see an "open hole in wall".
Maybe if he continues to fly for the window, pull the blinds or curtains so he doesn't go full steam into the window.

Sounds like you are having a great time with your new friend. :)

if he was hand fed try feeding him some egg & bicci mix with a spoon we had one that was hand reared but in the petshop for a while & not handled as much as he was used to but when we started handrearing skeet he saw the spoon & immediately started demanding to be fed too! it realy helped with hand taming him again
just put some food on the spoon & offer it to him a teaspoon will do if you dont have a handrearing on

He relakses when he see that it aint him I am after, only to change his water or food.
He likes popcorn, fruit, vegs and nuts. :D
He is begining to have a withe ring aroundt he`s neck and his tail is getting longer :D
He is also been more blue, and he is piping when he wants some fruit.
He puts it in his water bowl, and eats it after a few minutes, crasy bird

I have been thinking...
Will it help my liltle scaret of hands boy, if I get a handtame ringneck ???
He is still afried of hands, it wont be before in martch I will get ringneck nr 2, i have had him from the 3 of september and he has done a smarl step forwart.
I am NOT giving op hope of him begining to just trust me a little bit.
He is alowing me to give him a bathe wiht a spraymist boutel, then he spredt his wings and looks like he is enjoing himself :D
That is a good thing, I think he is happy, for he will only chip when I am alone with him, my mom have hear him chip in the telefone, and onece in my apartment.
My dad, big brother and unkel havent heard him, but he is looking at them and it is as if he is thinking, waht is all these pebole doing in my home, and what is they saying to me
I just want him to have a long and happy life, and if he wont be tame, I will love him anyway.
I am only angri at my self, for not reating, when I had seen him blafing around in the small cage, not trusting ANYBODI, not even the breeder.
But I can´t do anything about it now, I must take the good wiht the bad, and hope for the best :)

Hi

IRNs can learn from each other... but there is no guaranteeing that your tame ringneck won't learn from your current one and become less tame.

For example, my blue IRN (Janey) will allow us to pat her. She loves pattings. Our Lutino (Charlie) looks very interested when Janey is getting pattings... but he doesn't exhibit the same begging for pattings behaviour that Janey exhibits even though he has witnessed it heaps. He occasionally tolerates a pat... but he never seems to like it (not yet, anyway).

If you have lots of patience and keep gradually trying with your boy, you will get progress. What are your taming goals? Ultimately, how tame would you like him to be? Do you know his favourite foods? Have you tried feeding these to him through the bars of the cage? I've found that most birds will eventually do this if you keep trying.

From what you've described, it does sound like your bird is already warming up to you... so that's really good. You just need to take really small steps and be patient.

Good luck.

Ellie.
