Pearl I'll have to dig around my recipe book to see if I have any chili ones but this one is a good one for sweet potatoes. Hope you and your bird will enjoy I know my love this one.

Sweet Potato Balls

1 large sweet potato
1/2 cup raisins
1 mashed banana
1 cup mixed veggies
1 cup diced apples
1 1/2 cup oatmeal, cereal or granola

Aside from softening the sweet potato in the microwave, this recipe
does not require you to do any cooking at all. It’s a relatively simple
recipe you can make that will provide with a big batch of treats that
freeze well. The fresh fruits and/or vegetables are especially nutritious
for your bird, and the cereal give the balls a pleasant crunch. Prepare
the sweet potato by piecing it several times with a knife or food
skewer. Then place the potato in the microwave and cook it on high
power for about 5-9 minutes, or until the potato is tender. Half way
through the cooking, turn the potato over. When it is finished cooking,
set it aside on a plate or other surface and allow it to cool
considerably. Once the potato is cool enough to handle, add the
remaining ingredients to the mixing bowl. Then use an electric mixer
on a high speed to thoroughly beat all the ingredients together. Blend
for several minutes, or until everything ahs been reduced to tiny
chunks, and the mixture is consistent. Check the consistency of the
mixture. It shouldn’t be too thick; you should be able to mold it easily
with your hands and have it hold its shape. Adjust the consistency by
adding water as needed. Line a small baking sheet or tray with waxed
paper. Then begin to form some marble sized balls of the mixture by
tearing off chunks and rolling them between your hands. Arrange each
ball onto the prepared baking sheet. Then repeat with the remaining
mixture until you run out of mixture can no longer make any more
balls. The balls are ready to be served immediately. Promptly place
any leftover in the refrigerator until ready to use. Alternately, you can
individually wrap each ball in waxed paper, foil, or plastic wrap, if
space is an issue or you don’t have a baking sheet to use. Defrost the
frozen balls before.

Oh sorry yes they can have all kinds of chillies. I have one ringneck though that is allergic to Jalapeno peppers. Another thing you can try to get her to eat veggies is take a piece of broccoli and just cut off the little balls and mix them with her favorite seed mix she will get the taste of them and decide she really likes them. There's 100 different tricks you can try to get them to eat veggies. Hope this helps.

LOL I think the talking and the chilli thing is a myth. A bird will talk when it's ready or may not talk at all. I have two ringnecks that don't say a thing and 3 more that will carry on a whole conversation with me. All depends on the bird not what ya feed it.

I've never heard that myth before. But it cant be true. Not everybirdy will talk. My Jibby is almost 7 years and doesnt. (Well, he does say some things, just only I can understand what hes saying and he screams most words out and I dont understand why he does this)

Donna, thats a great recipe! I might have to substitute the banana for something. My Mr. Fussy will just throw it back at me.

My fids love!!!!! chillies, they eat them raw and love the little seeds inside. Note: don't kiss the bird after its eaten chillie .. ouch !! hot lips !!

Chillies and Garlic are a good natural wormer for your birds.

We have Mynah bird kept at our restaurant who couldn't talk yet, everytime I go there I always taught it greeting word such as: welcome, hi there!, hello!, nice to meet you!, hopefully he will talk later.
While I was teaching him to talk, a guest come to me and said : "why dont you feed it some chillies? it help talking process." I know this is a myth and I have heard it before, anyway I know that chillies is not bad for bird, so I did feed him with some chillies, which ofcourse doesn't help the talking process.

I know it wouldn't help anyway but its worth trying since chillies isn't bad for mynah bird, and he love it too!

I get it why people think giving bird chillies help talking process, you know how people react after they eat chillies? "Oh my god! this is very spicy! give me water, give me water! my mouth is burning! water please! water!!!!!"

Thats why people think it might help bird talk by giving them chillies, by forcing them to talk from the spicy taste in their mouth, but I know its myth and it all depend if the bird wanted to talk or not, not because of the chillies.

Birds do not have saliva and they don't have moisture in their feet like we do our hands and feet. This is why they can eat peppers and chillies without burning their tongues and feet.
