Vegimite?

Vegimite?
I can't seem to find anything on vegimite and parrots. My partner gave a lil piece of vegimite on toast to Jibby. Jibby hated it and shook his head in disgust. (I wouldnt blame him!) But is it ok for them? I know he only had a tiny bit but just to be sure.
To people who don't know what vegimite is. Its an aussie spread. Its an acquired taste. Its made from yeast, salt and malt extract (barley). Also has lots of vitamins. Personally, I hate it. Ick! But alot of people love it.
Just wondering if anyone knows anything bad about giving it to parrots?

I don't think Ive had marmite but it sounds similar. Yeast cake? Now thats a bit strange.
My partner loves the stuff. Ick! My mum used to make vegimite and cheese sandwiches for my school lunch. Gosh, it was horrid. Hehe.
I took the jar out of the cupboard to have a look at the ingredients before and Jibby thought it was the peanut butter jar! He flew to my shoulder and took a look at the jar closely, inspecting it. Then he flew back to the cage and ate pellets instead. Haha.
I don't think its hurt Jibby. But I'll still make sure. Thanx.

If I remember rightly marmite is made from beef extract, promite from vegitable extract and and vegimite is made from yeast extract.
I would stear clear of it. The sodium content is way too high for the fids. Remember, no salt, no sugar.

we give the fids vegemitie on toast quite often whenever we have some. they just live holding it and chewin on the crunchy crusts andpickin the soft parts. they werent sure at first, but were were eating it, they HAD to have it lol, now its a favorite for toast along with (little bit) of honey or peanutbutter and sometimes jam.
we try to get a lot of preservative/sugar fee stuff, at least added sugar, and last week i found a bag of small pasta pieces, all diff colours and dinosaur shapes, organic too, so i had to pick em up lol, just been givin it to them straight from the bag, theyre lovin that too
