Eating little'beak trama and falling of perch

Post by lola13 »

I know I need to take him to the vet which I am Monday but I just want peoples opion so I can ask my vet different things.

My IRN cam to me last night yes I know he might still be iffy and scared so not wanting to eat. But he has a small hole in his beak and can't hold on to his perch right. He's thin but not tooo thin his feathers are in good order.

What could the hole be from? I was told he was 4 months old but I don't know how big he should be but I think he's older.

I don't have any advice, but I'm wondering if you took him to the vet. What did the vet say??

He's been not mites can't find any on him. Said if he's eating and playing which he is I've had him a few days and already destroyed a toy hell be fine.

I'm hoping he settles down as everytime I put my hand in to put toys or food in he goes nuts

The original poster stopped coming on here (due to many telling her to take her bird to an avian vet not a regular vet) so you wont get an answer from them. But they did post on another forum that they took their IRN to a regular non avian vet, who told her it was fine, their IRN died a few weeks later.....

Well said, molossus!
We are lucky to have an avian specialist that really knows his stuff only an hours drive away.
When we first got our bird we did try the local vet that "treats" birds and it was a waste of money and he didn't know squat. Talking to the guys at the at the aviculture society was way more informative.

Btw we would always welcome your input on pet behaviour threads if you ever have spare time! Your understanding of the bird and it's social dynamics is something that newbies, like myself, could really benefit from when we bring these creatures into a home and try to be their flock.

I am the one that posted this thread. And yes'its been very sad. My avian vet is 3 hours away god wish it was 3 mins away!
I don't have to explain what happened it was the breeder giving me a very sick bird and not telling the truth.
If people have something to say about it I appreciate a private message.
Thank you

Nobody was saying anything bad. They were saying that its rude when people come on here and ask for advice or a resolution to a problem and then don't even let you know how it turned out. Everyone that takes the time to input advice is left hanging wondering whatever happened. We never heard back from you about your bird. It was heard from another forum that your bird died and it was updated here when someone asked a question about the status. It wasn't meant to start an argument.your last status update had been almost two months ago. :)

Oh,I know. I havnt been on here as I completly forgot I had wrote something on here. And another member(can't remember their name) pointed out not many people post on here. But when I did come back on it seemed to be tons of threads to sit through and read.
It just annoys me and is sad when people jump the gun without knowing what experience a person has. I got ripped on the other forum which I completly thought it was un called for and it wasn't for admin on that forum telling me to keep posting and that people do care that I thought some people do care you just get some bad apples that think they know everything. Even the most experienced breeder/avian vet don't know everything and are learning everyday.
I learn something new on all the forums everyday.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of that other forum. It's hard to get a decent answer from a knowledgable person over there. Ill stick to my family right here :D

The vet said it was his liver malfuntion. She made it clear it was the breeders fault not mine as I blamed myself straight away. She said for the signs he was showing he was sick for along time but couldn't keep it hiden anymore.
Breeder compansated my money back offered another one first which I refused.
