introducing pellets

Post by jimmyjack »

has anyone got handy tips?

my birds naturally have a fairly varied diet of seed (very little, and further cutting it from their diet), fruit, veg, grains and im now replacing the seed element of their diet with pellets.

so far ive:
- mixed pellet 75% and millet 25%
- mixed in some pellet with their morning porridge
- the pellet im using is coloured and apple flavoured (with natural colours and flavours)

soaking the pellets in juice or water to make it into mush, mix in seeds ect. The idea is that they pick through the mix to get the seeds and things out and eventually start tasting the pellets. gradually the seeds get smaller amounts and they are eating the pellet mix. The mix gets less mushy as you progress until they are eating the pellets straight from the bag.
