Can IRN eat cinnamon sticks? How about cardamom pods etc?

Post by Yvette »

Hi all =)

I have a 5 month old RN who eats pretty much anything I give her...
But I was in the cupboard yesterday and noticed I have an abundance of bay leaves, cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks etc and I was just wondering if she is allowed to chew on any of these?

Also, I gave her some tuna in spring water the other day and she sucked the juice out and flung the tuna all over the walls is that normal?
Does she get much protein from just the juices?

Thanks in advance!

It sound harmlesss to me and it sounds like a lot of fun. I know that birds can eat meat and the cinnamon sticks but not sure of the others.

Bay leaves, cardamom, and cinnamon are all fine.

Tuna is okay, I would feed in moderation because of possible mercury levels.

How much of the stick would you suggest giving them, and how often? They do sound like an interesting treat. ^^

You said it, treat. I think it would depend on the bird as well. I know Hane would just enjoy destroying a cinnamon stick and would eat very little. Therefore he could probably have one more often than a bird that would actually eat it. All things in moderation. :)

Thanks everyone =) yeah she's a destructive one, give her 3 mins with a 10cm cinnamon stick and it's in a 3 metre radius on the floor hahahaha

it's more a tasty toy... She loves the caramom pods because she likes to get out the lil seeds inside and flick them everywhere....she doesn't really like bay leaves coz all the other things are more crunchy and fun and tasty I believe.

But nah doesn't really digest them so it's good. She's too hung up on her mandarine and kwiw fruit lol they get devoured in an instant
I'm having issues trying to type at the moment coz she's obn my shoulder and keeps jumping onto the keyboard hahaha it's a game now!!!!!!!!!!
