Feather colours...

Post by Jessi1201 »

I have some eggs that have recently hatched, their feathers are starting to come through. The male is yellow and the female is grey.
One baby is yellow, which is understandable because the male is yellow, but the second one is green? I don't understand how that's happened because none of our birds are green...
Someone help? :-?

Could he be a yellow with a hidden split green gene?

a lutino male with a gray hen will give you

males 50.0% greygreen split blue and lutino
50.0% green /blue ino

Females 50.0% lutino masking grey split blue
50.0% lutino split blue

The lutino is really a green bird with the ino gene
if the lutino was split blue and you put it over your grey you could produce albinos also.
