What am I???? One for the experts

Post by mallee_1 »

Hi All,

I need a little help with identification of the following bird.

I have an idea what it is but want to see if others can pick what it is.

I wont give you the parents yet and see what answers we get back.

This bird has justed fledged within the last week.

Waiting in anticipation of what it is????

Violet Mauve?
Not sure if DF or SF, but if I were to guess I would say DF

That's my guess

Thanks

To All,

Yes thats what it appears to be, buttttttttttttttt only one of the parents is carrying the single dark factor, so Mauve??????

I think Madas will sort it out.

There is another mutation in the mix, have a good look at the photo again.

See if you can pick it up, good luck.

Willy you are on the money, my guess is it's a Emerald DF Violetcobalt, Ben your thinking my way and only missed out on the Emerald.

You can see a olive sheen through the bird which is just visible on photos and under the wings it is a real creamy olive colour.

This bird if cock which I will gaurantee it is because I want a hen, will be split pallid (lacewing).

Parents SF Violetcobalt poss split Pallid x Emerald SF Violetblue Pallid (photo in another thread), I breed the cock bird and I know it is definately what is is, the hen was breed by another breeder from a SF Violetblue Pallid x Emerald Sf Violetblue.

The bird is very dark as you can see and to me it is carrying DF Violetblue, SF Dark and Emerald.

If it was carrrying SF Violetcobalt to me the bird wouldn't be as dark.

I think from memory in another Thread Madas refered to this dark colour being the colour of a DFVioletcobalt.

Another breeder tends to agree with me but up for other people ideas, maybe from those breeding the Emeralds.

Glenn , Willy

I am discussing on another thread this bird below, similar looking as the ones you have.
At first i also believed that this bird is violet and deep and 1 of 2 colors are DF but both parents are SF
What is your thoughts on it?
Parents: (Deep??) or Violet Strain2 ?? Hen (sf) X Violet Strain1 (sf) Male from Peter Russell line (original Violet)
picture of parents below:

Hen Offspring - very dark, almost mauve looking
what if this is strain 1 X strain 2 =
DF Violet or combo Violet S1 S2

(pics were taken through the wire, not the clearest. .breeding season ..)

I have attached a couple of pics which show how hard it is to identify these birds.

Cobalt Violet Blue and Deep Violet Blue

Deep Violet Blue and DF Violet Blue

Deep Violet Blue and Violet Blue

The pics are all oriented correctly in photobucket so don't know why one is out. Also while titled in photobucket the titles didn't come through so I had to manually insert. ?????
