Hi guys, Deon Smith from S.A.
Comments on this Olive. Do you think there is Violet in it as well?
It was bred from a Darkgreen Violetgreen/ADM/blue X Darkgreen ADM/blue

Hello Doc!,
normally with these structural mutations in DF and combinations, I try to compare the bird with others. You are in a good situation where you can compare it to the father (DF dark violet) and possibly the mother (DF dark, but the pied can confuse the matter, as it can darken the green as well, not to mention the lack of melanin) in one aviary. Best would be to compare it with the cock/father. You (being a renowned expert) know as well as the rest of us how tricky light conditions and photography can be, so it is hard to say exactly. However, if I had to go with the picture only, I'm also going with DF dark violet (/pied /?blue).

Hi guys,
Deon ... how old is this bird? Is the clear bill a sign of a young bird or a part of the mutations expressed? Dark and violet show a dark lower mandible in both green and blue series... so if it is an adult bird we should also consider that, perhaps, the clear bill could be a sign of ADM.
What about a closer pic of the tail feathers looking for violet ... specially for Madas analyse.
