indigo blue/lacewing cock to double factor violet hen

Post by smick » Sat Apr 14, 2012 1:51 am

G'day ive bought a indigo blue/lacewing cock to put with my double factor violet hen. I can't see how you put this cock bird into gencalc?. If i'm right i should get violet blue cocks, indigo violet blue cocks, indigo violet blue lacewing hens and violet lacewing hens.
My mate bought a green lacewing cock that has no splits what would be the best hen for her,the seller told him best to get a green lacewing hen!. If i get a indigo violet blue cock from my pair would getting enougher double factor violet hen be a good pairing to get double factor indigo violet cocks and what would they look like? Thanks Mycoola.

Since the sire cock is / lacewing then 50% of hens will be indigo violet and violet. Also half of the cocks will be / lacewing.
Hope this helps.

Yes this helps Molussus and thanks, and i did have a general idea as to the offspring but i still can't figure out how to find mutations like indigo, aqua, emerald in genecalc?. I must be looking wrong.
For a green lacewing (pallid) cock what would some suggest as to a good hen. Would turquoise be a good choice?or lutino? or as the seller suggested just stick to enougher green lacewing!.

As far as I can see in Gen Calc it doesnt differentiate between the different Parblues and only has the Turquoise listed. I would say just use that. Check Turquoise and Split to Blue as well split to Pallid for your Cock bird. Then when you look at the results where it says Turquoise assume Indigo. I hope this makes sence or someone may no another way.

The DF Cock you asked about have the deeper purple colour. You could get another DF Violet Hen or you could get a Cobalt Hen (Hen with 1 Dark Factor). This will also deepen the purple colour by giving you Violet Cobalts and you could breed Cobalts as well.

Being Lacewing it does lighten the Colour considerably but still they are attractive birds. If you wanted to get the really deep colours and have Clearheaded birds then the Cleartail does not have a lighter colour like the Lacewings but maintains normal colour.

As to your mates Green Lacewing. Green will mask the Turquoise. So to get some different Colours strait away maybe a Grey Lacewing Hen. The young will also be split Blue which may be of help to him later.

Thanks Rod,i think your probably right and just check turquoise blue / split lacewing for the cock and subsitute indigo for the results.
I have left to pair up myself, a green lacewing cock/blue, blue/lacewing cock and a blue lacewing hen so i still need one more hen and not sure what to get. I was thinking of a turquoise hen.
So for this years pairings i will have pastel blue lacewing cock to blue hen
indigo blue/lacewing cock to double factor violet hen
turquoise blue/ino cock to creamino hen.
Something thats puzzled me is that the pastel blue lacewing cock and blue hen have bred for 2yrs now and only have had blue/lacewing cocks and blue lacewing hens and i was also expecting turquoise blue/lacewing cocks and pastel blue lacewing hens?
Do you think swapping the pastel blue lacewing cock and indigo blue/lacewing cock would be good or the current pairings o.k.

I think the current pairing are ok because the pairs are bonded and there wont be alot to gain by swapping them over. The percentages of what you get are an average on thousands of chicks so you might get a whole nest of them eventually to even it up.
