i have a green indian ring neck who has always had a little blue in his tail and yellow under his wing however when i woke up this morning he now has black/brown through half his tail and on his wing on one side does anyone no what this is. i have 3 indian ring necks he is my youngest and my other male never did this. please help me i dont no what to do?

this is why im confused about it i have never seen or heard of it before and i have had my other bird for over 3 years ricola only developed his ring in october

its just because she is wet
their tail feathers go a blacky browny color when wet

Hi,
It is not possible to display a change in colour feathers so quickly. Something else: this colour change is asymetrical. You should look for some liquid which is staining the feathers. If he is with other IRN I would bet that it is blood from fighting with the others IRN. Red blood becomes brown after oxidizing and the final apparent colour depends on the underlying feathers colour.

thank you so much, he is with a female and has been for a few weeks now, i guess i will have to separate the two of them. i washed his tail and now it is gone so at least that is a good sign no more has appeared yet other wise it was going to be a vet trip. im glad i have at least found out what it must of been thank you so much
