Need advice

Post by littlemiraclesaviary »

Hi

Thinking of making a new pairing with a hen that is already paired but does not seem to get along with her male. She is a violet dark green hen and I am thinking of pairing her with a blue male. She is currently with a violet male. I would like to pair the violet male with a different hen as he seems to eager to breed. What would I get with a violet dark green hen (yes she is a violet dark green - the rare kind as someone on this forum put it) with a blue male. Will I still produce violets out of that?

Hi no you will not visually get violet babies below is the result.

1.0 blue
x 0.1 D green violet(sf)
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 green /blue
25.0% 1.0 green violet(sf) /blue
25.0% 1.0 D green /blue
25.0% 1.0 D green violet(sf) /blue
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 green /blue
25.0% 0.1 green violet(sf) /blue
25.0% 0.1 D green /blue
25.0% 0.1 D green violet(sf) /blue

You will get green, dark green, green violet and dark green violet babies.

Thanks Glenn

Hi;

Do you know if your very rare female dark green violet is split blue? Many green violets and dark greens are the "colateral" effects of looking for blue violets and/or cobalts, and thus they are split blue. If this is the case you can obviously get visual violets with your pair.

I am not sure I would have to ask the breeder if she is. i was told that the violet male she is paired with and her together could produce violets, double factored violets, violet dark greens, double factored violet dark greens and cobalt blues

Hi,

To produce such offspring she must be necesserely split blue.
