What would I get with......
What would i get with a male albino either masking blue or violet with a pallid hen? I am told this is how to obtain Pallid Ino males However I am not sure what else that would produce.

Re: What would I get with......
Hi there the results are below.
I dont think it would be masking violet or blue!
And it cant be split to blue or violet!
1.0 blue ino
x 0.1 pallid
% from all 1.0
100.0% 1.0 pallidIno /blue
% from all 0.1
100.0% 0.1 ino /blue
All the male babies will be pallid inos
and the hens will be lutinos.
Thanks Glenn

then why would say it can't be split blue?

Re: What would I get with......
So it is not split blue because it is actually blue? Its a Blue/ino you mentioned so its really a crossover mutation of a blue and an ino right? So if you had a violet split to Albino male that would throw off albino hens would they then be able to produce violets even though they are albino?

Re: What would I get with......
The Albino is genetics are blue ino no splits.
I didnt mention blue / ino because that would be a visual blue bird carrying the ino gene.
Its not a crossover mutation thats some thing completly different.
The fact that it has ino meens it has lack of melinen,
If you had a violet = Violet blue that was split ino it would depend on what you but it with depends on its of spring if you paired it to a blue then yes its babies could be albino (only hens).
Now they would not carry and would not be able to produce violet babies.
Violet is a dominant gene so if the bird is carrying the violet gene then visually you must be able to see it.
Hope it made sence thankd Glenn

Re: What would I get with......
That was incredilbly helpful because I was thinking of purchasing an albino hen for my blue possibly split albino male that i was told she was albino possibly masking violet bacuse she came from a violet producing pair. So it is good to know that she would not be abale to produce violets. I was so confused about Albinos and how that works I am still a little confused as to why Lutinos can be split but not albinos but what's really important is to know that the Albino hen could not produce violet.
Re: What would I get with......
Hi,
You are wrong. An albino hen masking violet can produce violet babies. She just need to be paired to a normal blue male.
Hope it helps

Hey Recio,
So in genetics it would be violet blue ino but would visually look albino?
Is that what you would then call masking?
Same as grey blue ino, same as blue ino!

That is right.
Blue-ino (albino) means that there is not melanin (ino mutation) or psitacine (blue mutation) synthesis. Thus every mutation afecting the structure of the feather (dark, grey and violet) would not be visible in albino and lutino birds because they need the presence of melanin to be "seen". This is called "masking" because the mutation is present but it can not be "seen", which is different of split (the mutation is not present but is carried).
We all learn everyday

Re: What would I get with......
Wow thank you everyone for educating me! So if I took an albino hen masking violet and paired her with a blue male what would I get? The male is possibly split to albino because his father is split albino I know the split does not necessarily carry on but that there is a chance. Even if he is not split I just wonder what he would produce with an allbino hen. There are many possibilities I suppose because she could be masking violet or not be no one can tell until she has offsprings and my male who is blue could be carrying the albino gene or possibly not again he would need to produce to know.
Re: What would I get with......
sorry just have to ask a question while you are talking baout albinos, what do you breed together to get albinos? i was told blue and yellow but that doesnt seem right? i own an albino myself and was just curious.

Re: What would I get with......
Hi there below are the different results based on masking or not and split or not.
If she is masking violet and he is split ino.
1.0 blue /ino
x 0.1 blue violet(sf) ino
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 blue /ino = blue
25.0% 1.0 blue violet(sf) /ino = violet
25.0% 1.0 blue ino = albino
25.0% 1.0 blue violet(sf) ino
% from all 0.1 = albino masking and then follow down page.
25.0% 0.1 blue ino
25.0% 0.1 blue violet(sf) ino
25.0% 0.1 blue
25.0% 0.1 blue violet(sf)
If they she isnt masking and he isnt split.
1.0 blue
x 0.1 blue ino
% from all 1.0
100.0% 1.0 blue /ino
% from all 0.1
100.0% 0.1 blue
If she is masking and he isnt split.
1.0 blue
x 0.1 blue violet(sf) ino
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 blue /ino
50.0% 1.0 blue violet(sf) /ino
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 blue
50.0% 0.1 blue violet(sf)
If she isnt masking and he is split.
1.0 blue /ino
x 0.1 blue ino
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 blue /ino
50.0% 1.0 blue ino
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 blue ino
50.0% 0.1 blue
SCB blue and yellow as long as they arent split will give green babies,
The last option above as long as your albino is the hen is your best option.
Thanks Glenn

So if I have a Creamino male wirh a lutino hen all my babies would be lutino split to blue right? So what would I get if I paired one of those babies with a blue or turquoise? Would that produce albino?

Re: What would I get with......
If you have a creamino paired to lution the results are below.
1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue ino
x 0.1 ino
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 ino /turquoise(parblue)
50.0% 1.0 ino /blue
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 ino /turquoise(parblue)
50.0% 0.1 ino /blue
So the babies both male and female could be split either blue or turquoise and there is no way to tell until they produce babies.
I will do results below for babies paired to blue or turquiose.
1.0 ino /turquoise(parblue)
x 0.1 blue
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 green /blue ino
50.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue /ino
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 ino /blue
50.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue ino
1.0 ino /blue
x 0.1 blue
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 blue /ino
50.0% 1.0 green /blue ino
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 blue ino
50.0% 0.1 ino /blue
1.0 ino /turquoise(parblue)
x 0.1 turquoise(parblue)
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 green /turquoise(parblue) ino
50.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue) /ino
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 ino /turquoise(parblue)
50.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue) ino
1.0 ino /blue
x 0.1 turquoise(parblue)
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 green /turquoise(parblue) ino
50.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue /ino
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 ino /turquoise(parblue)
50.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue ino
Thanks Glenn
1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue ino
x 0.1 ino
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 ino /turquoise(parblue)
