Are these normal grey and blue?

Post by pinkdevil »

As I have not bred or seen first hand, coloured chicks other than green, I am not sure if these 2 chicks are normal blue and grey.

The grey one looks a lot darker in appearance than the fathers grey colouring, and the blue colour looks slightly different with a greenish/blue tinge. I am not sure if it is the light or just my eyes.

Do the chicks change colour as they age?

I do not know fully what other splits, (if any), the parents could be carrying other than the male grey/ino, mother blue cin.
The feet on both chicks are pale/light with dark nails.
I am thinking they are both just normals but just look different to my others of the same colours.

Here are the chickies.....

Thanks :D

Hi pinkdevil,

Yes looks to me like you have a grey and a blue chick there. :P
However in saying that....the blue chick's parents are they caring pastel...Turquoise....?
Not sure if it is the pic or not but I do see a slight shade of green.....pastel....on the wing tips.
In the secong picture. So not sure if it is my eyes or not..
Sometimes if a chick is caring pastel it can take a few molts to show up.
They are very healthy looking....good job! :P

Thanks for replying razsringnecks. :)

Both chicks have the same parents, male grey/ino and female blue cinnamon, (other splits unknown). I do not know if the parents of these 2 chicks are carrying turquoise. History of their parents are unknown. I only found out the male was split ino when he through a Lutino chick 2 years ago.

I thought I saw the greenish colouring to and my partner also commented on it so thought I would ask.

Here are a coupe of updated pics of the chicks.

I accidentally set off a bunch of IRNs off like that in the pet store once (they were being handraised, thought I was their latest meal ticket).... boy, were they noisy & way cute! If I'd been able to feed them, I would have!

haha Ellie, once one starts, they ALL start.

Memories, hey Bec. :)

The photos actually look more washed out then the chicks are, especially the blue, unless it is just the way the pics look on my laptop.

Thanks again for the encouraging & positive comments, Razsringnecks. :)

It is great to hear others think my birds are nice as I am a bit biased towards my babies.

Hope your breeding season is going well. :)
