What colours will I get

Post by littlemiraclesaviary »

I am getting two new pairs of Indian Ringnecks as well as I am contemplating a third and I am just wondering what colours I will get from these pairs and if they are good pairings.

First pair
Creamino hen (father Pallid Ino Mother Violet) with a Blue male (father was split to pallid so not sure if that automatically carries over to the next generation)

Second Pair
Violet Dark Green split to pallid male with a visual Pallid Violet Hen (Violet Pallid hen is full sister to Creamino hen above)

Third Pair (Considering this pair for purchase)
Cinamon Blue Hen (not sure of parents yet but I think there was a Cinamon Violet sibling in the clutch) with a Violet male

If anyone could help me with what I could get from these pairs it would be greatly appreciated. I just want to make sure they will produce what I am looking for before I purchse them definetly

Thank you

CremeIno hen from first pairing and Pallid Violet hen from second pairing: If they are full sisters and the father is a PallidIno Green then he must be split for turquoise and so the Pallid Violet hen should be turquoise as well and the CremeIno hen can carry the violet gen masked. But this is only right if the father is a visual Green PallidIno.

Violet Dark Green split to pallid: Is this really a bird which is carring the dark and the violet factor? or is only a violet green which is called "violet dark green" in your country? I ask because true violet dark greens are not very common. Futher more i think the cock is split for blue, because most darkgreens / violetgreens are known to be split for blue.

if we consider these facts you can get the following offspring:

first pair (the blue male can also carry the pallid gen as split):

1.0 blue x 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue ino
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 blue /ino
50.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue /ino

or

25.0% 1.0 blue pallidIno
25.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallidIno
25.0% 1.0 blue /ino

25.0% 0.1 blue
25.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue
25.0% 0.1 blue pallid
25.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid

or

25.0% 1.0 blue violet(sf) /ino

Ok for the Violet Dark Green I don't know how to really better clarify it. It is a dark green with a wine colour beak and it is a product of violet the breeder that I buy my birds from says that my pair I already have with a violet dark green hen paired with a violet male can produce double factored violets and doubles factored violet dark greens so this male split to pallid is the same as my violet dark green hen just he is split to pallid as his mom was a visual pallid. The breeder I buy from specializes in producing violets and he uses the violet dark greens with the violets thats seems to be his most common recommendation when I buy birds as he is not a huge fan of pairing two violets together all the time.

From your explanation the cock could really be a violet darkgreen. So can you please post a picture of your violet dark green bird.
I have never seen such bird because as i sayed the aren't very common.

Thx in advance.

Greetings.

Here is the response I got as well as I will try to get a picture of my violet dark green hen which is the same as the male violet dark green split to pallid I am getting.

The parents of the VDG split pallid are a violet darkgreen male and a turquoise pallid hen. The difference between a violet green and a violet darkgreen is that a violet green has a dark blue central tail feather and is not as dark in colour as a violet darkgreen which has a dark purple-blue central tail feather. Genetically they are different of course as the violet green produces violet factor only and the violet darkgreen produces both dark factor and violet factor. The few visual cobalts I have bred are all from these birds with a dark purple-blue cental tail feather. I suspect several of my very good looking violets are in fact violet cobalts. These tend to have a darker blue rump area. I combined the dark factor and violet factor several years ago when I acquired a European Cobalt and bred it to a violet green. Yes, every green bird in my aviary is split blue. I do not make pairs that can't produce split blue babies at least

Hi,

i have viewed the picture of you violet dark green birds. Unfortunally the picture is of a very bad quality. So if you like you can send me some better pics per mail. I would suggest one of the front, one of the back. And one zoom picture of the wing and tail. So really thx for that.

greetings.

if you refer to my avatar picture then please look at my website. there you can find pictures of this bird under "Bundesschau Kassel 2009". It is a cleartail cobalt.

ok try again I posted a different picture of her in her nestbox with babies http://littlemiraclesaviary.tripod.com/ it will be on the Indian Ringneck Pairs page under Betty. This hen is the same colour as my violet dark green split to pallid male I am getting, however of course the hen is not split pallid as that is impossible.
