My irn Jack is 10 months old I've had for 6 months ..He's not hand reared so is very scared of me. I've tried sitting buy his cage lower down with no eye contact moving slowly but as soon as I get to a certain distance he just flies off.. Jack gets out of his cage and loves to sit on top of my curtain pole and also loves a fly around my sitting room to spread his wings but just won't come near me Does anyone have any other tips on what I could do to bond with my little birdie

Have you tried giving him treats through the bars? Or eating your meals next to the cage, he will come close to see what you have to share.

I've sat next to the cage for a long time with food and he sits right at the opposite end of the cage with 1 claw on the bars. He's just so scared of humans I can't get near him .. I've not ate next to the cage that might be worth a try. He's very fussy. Only likes pomegranate apple and grapes. Turns his nose to everything else including different types of nuts etc. I've joined another forum and another member informed me it took them nearly a year to bond with their parakeet so it's given me some sort of hope I will eventually. Patients is the key I'm thinking.

A year sounds excessive, but I suppose they're all different. I'm glad you haven't resorted to wing clipping, they do love a good soar!.
Time and patience are definitely the key. :-bd
