socialise of Delfin and Bluey

Post by zentoucan »

I just need to mention that Delfin has a great interest in Mobile Phones, TV remotes, keys and a computer Mouse.
Over the last month I have been Observing Delfin's and Bluey's behaviour but there was some real advances in this last week. The first observation was when a mate named john dropped in for a visit. This was the first time that John meet Delfin and Bluey has John lives interstate. Both Delfin and Bluey were out of the cage. Bluey flew back into the cage and sat on the middle perch and watched. While Delfin flew over to my shoulder. I got Delfin to step up onto my hand and he was watching John quite intensely. I told John that I need to introduce you and Delfin properly. No sooner had I spoken when John's Mobile Phone rang. John answer the Mobile Phone and in less then ten seconds Delfin flew over to the arm rest then hopped onto to john's knee and walked up john's leg onto his torso and up to the shoulder and started to chew on the Mobile phone. John moved his Mobile phone away and with his other hand got Delfin to step up and Delfin stayed there even after John had finish his call and put the Mobile Phone away in his shirt top pocket. Much to my amazement. Delfin then flew back over to John's shoulder turn around and crawled down to John shirt pocket and proceed to enter the pocket in a effort to get the mobile Phone. I went over and removed Delfin from John. But no, Delfin wasn't going to give up so easily and flew back to John in a effort to get the mobile phone. again I retrieved Delfin from John But this time I took John's mobile and showed Delfin the Mobile phone was going into the cupboard. Thinking that was the end of it, But no Delfin flew back to John's Knee and John got Delfin to step up onto his hand. Delfin stayed on John's hand for around 10 to 15 minutes before flying back to his T-perch. During this whole interaction Delfin show no display of aggression towards John even when John remove his mobile phone from him. it seems that the Mobile phone was the motivation for Delfin to interact with John. I have been socializing Delfin with any visitors that come around. yet I had never see Delfin take to any of our visitors like he did with John.

I have been watching the interaction between Delfin and Bluey for the last month. Delfin and Bluey have been keeping a set distance between themselves. if Bluey comes to close, Delfin would see Bluey off. But Bluey has been quite persistence in approaching Delfin. that persistence is starting to pay off as Bluey is now within 30cm of Delfin without being chased off. I wouldn't be surprised to see the two of them eating from the same bowl within 3 to 4 months.
