any tips for a newbie

hi everyone i just got my first ever IRN hes a gorjuz green IRN called Franklin hes 6 months old and 'semi' tamed iv never had an 'un-tamed' bird before iv only ever hand already hand raised cockiteils nd budgies and i was just wondering if anyone had any tips for me? hes fairly quiet and runs to the back of the cage whenever i go near him or look at him, i constantly talk and sing around him. when i go to give him fruit nd veggies nd change his food or water he skwaks and try fly away/hides at the very back does anyone have any suggestions or help? any advice would be hugely appreciated. thanks

if youve only just got him id give him a day or 2 to get used to your home before starting things with him put his cage somewhere he can watch you whille your doing other things & eat in front of him food you can let him have some of (like fruit )
this will stimulate his natural curiousity and let him know things are safe
