Help with mutation and gender

Post by John Hollander »

I have a pair of Indian ring necks ! The male is green split to Latino the hen is blue !
They had three chicks early this season , all were Latino ! I assume because the father is Latino they will all be hens .
They since have had a new clutch ! All these are green ,can someone help with the possible outcomes in relation to gender ,and mutations of these chicks

You are right in saying any visual Lutinos will be female but you will need to DNA the greens. Females will be split to Blue and half the males will be split to blue and half split Blue and Lutino I believe...I am still learning genetics though so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)
