preening during courtship

This is my first Alex pr and they have been courting and mating with the hen spending a long time in the log. The question is my male gently preens the hens wings from the shoulder right down to the tip of outside flight feathers before mating occurs is this common with Alex's because i haven't seen my Indian ringnecks do this.
