Sexually Dimorphic Birds

Post by Tabaneske »

Hey guys,

I am wanting to get some other birds to breed, but I would love to get ones that you can tell what gender they are by looking at them.

What birds do you guys know about that might be cool to start breeding for me?

I have IRN, cockatiels and zebra finches.

Also, maybe something that isn't as noisy as the IRN, lol.

Cheers guys.

Tabaneske, I have in sexually dimorphic birds bird's such as Gouldian finch's, Painted finch's. In parrots, Hooded parrots, Scarlet chested parrot, King parrot, and western rosella. Others you could try are Red wings , Superb parrots , Regents, Golden- shouldered parrot, Turquoise parrots, Bourke's parrot, Red rumps and Mulgas. There are probably others if you look but I tried to mention easy to obtain species. Thanks Mick.

parrotlets are able to visually gender, they are known as the pocket parrots being the smallest parrot with attitudes like amazons. The can also talk but are quiet. ---------------I had delete part of the subject title to be able to respond (some of the rules on this forum for newbies is VERY frustrating).

Thanks for all the input so far.

I would LOVE to own some parrotlets, but you cannot buy them in Australia...
