Lost Mate

Post by Shae B »

My name is Shae and my 15 year old son is today grieving the tragic loss of his female ring neck. She was part of his breading pair. His male bird seems to be frantic, i don't think he knows she has died. What should i do to help the male bird? Do i show him the body so he can grieve or does he need a new friend to help with the loss. Please help!!!

We Always allowed our surviving pets to view the body of a deceased pet, it helps them accept. Wait awhile, you don't want your son to think pets are easily replaced, but yes, for the sake of your son and the male bird, get another one eventually.
