Sorry about the towel but I like my fingers, this is my Male Ringnecks tail, as you can see two black lines have appeared in his feathers, any idea what this represents, adult hood ?? any thoughts thank you DEEDEE - England

Those look like pretty textbook stress bars, which are formed at the time the feather is being grown. Could be the result of dietary, mental or physical stress at that time.

Thanks for the replys, he is quite tame now he will go on the hand without biting, but will not let me cover his wings, as per towel, they are in the front room so could have been startled by anything out side the window.

Just thought a Cat used to jump up at the window and sit on the sill, this could have been the cause, they get plenty of exercise and diet is varied
