Wing clipping

Ok, I may be projecting human feelings on my 1 year old male IRN, But, seems a little cruel to clip his wings now. At 4 months of age after letting him fledge, breeder clipped them. Now, after being able to finally fly, and a successful period of training- he flys to me- holds on when he is told etc. My question is, how do others feel about him being clipped now?
Ps. My environment is very safe for him to free fly, he has learned about a open door though, even so the only "outside door" leads to a screened porch, anything can happen though, he's so young. Just wonder any thoughts?
