Hi everyone
i just had my year and bit old ringneck fly off...we have a slight idea where she is but its night, we have set up a cage with food and water in the back yard near where we have heard her call out. Any suggestions for a very very distraught owner please email me at laurenmcgregor04@hotmail.com
my yard is very leafy vegetation. her wing feathers have been trimmed but 4-5 feathers have grown but she can only fly a few feet.
please if anyone has any advice please let me know
:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Sorry to hear about your escapee, never a good feeling when you see them flying off. :(
Being just on dark, hopefully she wont get too far.

Besides the cage and food, alert your neighbours so they to, can keep a look out. More eyes the better.

if you are able to get up nice and early in the morning, around sunrise, and call out for her.

Fingers crossed and good luck for a safe and happy return.

Let us know please. :)

I hope you find it.
Parents can be very harsh when you loose a pet,
one of my cats went missing for 6 months and my mum told me he was dead but i never gave up hope and he came back.

You could try advertising a reward for her return. Some people don't give back lost pets if found unless a reward is offered. Sad but that is what some people are like.

I have heard of people who have lost their bird, have it returned to them after quite a while, so there is hope. :)

You have covered most bases I think.
Have you tried the radio and local media?
Sometimes a 'lost pet' story is covered on the local news, makes for a happy story when owner and pet are reunited. Anything is worth a try. :)

Hope you have success in getting her back.

Hi There, I was wondering if you found your bird or if you had found a breeder, if not I know you can contact one through the Parrot Society Australia. I know of breeders in your area and if you google Parrot society, you should find one! Good luck.

You wouldn't like living in a cage, while another species watched and taught you things, would you? Your dad, though he hates animals, I think is actually doing the right thing. Birds need to be out and about flying and not close to humans as virtual slaves.
If people like you stop buying, then the breeders will get the message and hopefully stop subjecting these poor little creatures to such torture and lack of freedom.

I think your comment was a bit harsh and uncalled for.
This was a 'Lost pet' topic and a plea for help to find their beloved pet bird.

Perhaps ALL pet owners should allow their dogs, cats etc to roam the streets and not be confined to the backyard as well. And what about working animals like sheep/cattle dogs, guide dogs for the blind, sniffer dogs for the police and army? Do these also come under the 'virtual slave' category???

There are a lot of animal lovers in this world who love their pet so much, they are looked upon and treated as part of the family.

I so agree with you their pinkdevil ... all of us here on this forum are animal lovers to pin point that out it is very very harsh that was so un called for, i to have a family member who hates the idea of birds in cages but after seeing me raising the little babies how i look after them and how i treat my pets he now understands .....
for example :
lets put an aviary breed bird back into the wild how do you think it will survive ? I will tell you it wont wanna know why it cant because a) he wont be able to fend for himself, b) he wont be able find food, c) he cant protect himself and wont be able to find shelter he wont know where to go and drink water and the worse part he will be lonely for the rest of his life which is sad so then being in an aviary he has grown dependent on us humans and feels more safer and has a good healthy home and lifestyle ...

To hermionestwins i feel for you i know exactly how you feel it will take some time but it will be ok its so sad to lose a very much loved pet esspecially a ringneck they are the cuttest and the sweetest birds you could find ...

Good luck with evie
