I wonder why they leased their breeders if they were so attached to them...

I hope they've found loving homes where the new family will not use them for profit and then send them away in exchange for cash by contract.

That's what I was thinking MissK and Ranechild. How do you lease your fids away like that??? I feel bad that they had to learn such a hard lesson, but I truly feel horrible for what those poor birds have been through. $12k ??? Not even close to the sentimental value I would place on my animals.

What was that, a bird breeding franchise gone wrong?!?! I'm sure they sued for replacement value - that's $545 a bird, roughly. If it was me...... Oh, right; It *wouldn't* be me. If I had to part with my animals for two years - maybe I was going to jail or something - I would bite the bullet and rehome them for real.

Like I said $12k could never replace my babies. I value their love and affection and the way they lower my blood pressure or bring a smile to my face at roughly a million per bird. And thats still not enough really. No amount could ever replace them. But then again I would never put my birds in that situation. EVER!!!! Did those people not check on their birds at all in the past year or two? Even if I had to rehome a bird, because those situations do arise, I would be checking on that bird all the time. Grrrrr. Poor little birds. Sadly they will probably buy more birds now :(
