How to sex Male IRN from ± 1 and half year old

Open the right wing of your Male IRN and blow on the feathers where the wing conects to the body. You will see what i call it like a INK spot, but it is actually a Boold marking. All IRN have this mark.
The Male have it on the right wing, and the Female have it on the left wing.
I removed some of the fluff under the wing so i can show you what the marking look like.
Please dont remove your IRN's fluff just blow and you will see the marking under the feathers.

REMEMBER ___ Male Right wing Female left wing.

You will see if you blow on the left wing of the male you will see no spot
and the sme for the Female'd right wing no spot.

Well, its certainly not visible on any of the adults we have here.

Its also not visible on a pallid grey hen thats 1yr old, nor a blue pallid male thats also 1yr old. (checked today).

I have also never once seen anything on the dozens I have handled indepth, and I think I would have noticed as thats where I take feathers for sexing quite regularly.

I am not in a position to disprove it, but I sure as heck know its got nothing to do with sexing IRN's that we have ever come across heh...

It also makes for no biological sense for that to exist, its quite odd, but certianly not on anything we have here IRN wise.

Do you have that photo in a bigger resolution than the one you have given? ie; not so small and without that text on it? I wouldnt mind being able to get a closer look at those markings with a better pic thats for sure.

Yah, just came back from another mates place down the road, they have several young from last year and not one has any form of marking, just good healthy looking flesh under the wings.

Not quite sure what you have there really, maybe get a vet to check it out?

Posted at another forum to check and found following that make sense,

"All these bids r surgically sexed birds i guess because pics r not clear enough to identify tatoo.
After sexing via endoscope vets often drill a tatoo under the wing which is permanent.I have checked adult grey RN,blue,lutino and olive but no such marks under the wing found"

Its also why I asked for a better pic.

Tattooing here in Australia for sexing is very rare now days, but im sure it still happens, and quite possibly more common in other places.

Just didn't make any biological sense.
