Hi
I have just obtained a yellow Ring Neck, and I'm guessing it's a hen as it has no other markings. Do hen's talk and how can I tell the age of the bird?

Welcome to this board!
Your Ringneck is most likely a female; however, if it’s a juvenile then it may be a male or female. Only time will tell. You might want to do some research into your parrot’s history and see when it was born. Start with the breeder and backtrack. If the bird has a band around its foot you can contact M & L Bands and request the breeder.
Also, Ringnecks do not mature until they are approximately 2 years of age. Females can breed during their first year, while males can take up to 2 years to reproduce successfully. So, if you can’t get any information, wait 2 years, or get a DNA test to sex the bird.
Also, female Ringnecks can talk just as well as the males. There is no limitation to their vocal ability. They talk just as clear and frequent as the males.
The age of the parrot cannot be determined visually unless it’s still in the juvenile age. A younger Ringneck will have black eyes, smaller tail feathers, and an orange/red colored beak.
