hi i am not new to IRN's but am new to breeding them. i have a proven pair in a large cage in my home, and was wondering if they would breed in it. i have placed a nest box(25/25/40cm) on the outside of the cage but the male seems to use it more often than the female although she does'nt chace him or be aggressive towards him, could anyone give me advice or tell me why this is?

thanks

Sounds like she is ready to lay eggs. Just give her lots of privacy and keep cage chores to a minimum. Feed her lots of vegetables as well.

Hi,
The male goes in to set things up. The hen then will go in to make sure it is alright. Just give it time. When you do not see the hen out in the cage, more than likely she will lay eggs. One every other day. Some lay every day. It is best to sneak in a night to check the box with a flashlight to see if you have eggs (so you don't disturb the momma). Best of luck!
