no, not yet- not unless they're stretching (or if I spread their wings).
I think the little edged boy is minimally marked- but his forms a pattern, whereas the parent raised boy's edging is fairly typical.

You can kind of make it out in this one

here's the parent raised with his parents..I'm annoyed I didn't get them all properly within the shot  - but I have plenty of other opportunities

ooh- what edged chicks are you expecting? any df?
(thanks for the compliment :)

Shey,

Thanks for doing the dairy, nicely done.
First year breeding edged for me too so i am curious to see how this mutation develops to adulthood.

I am working on a mutation reference website where each mutation will have pics of the birds from hatch to adulthood.
It is hard to compare a 3 month old to a mature bird, easier to compare apples with apples.
What do you think? worth doing?

Almost seems like he should be feeding himself at this point lol. It's so cute though :D

There's a bird here in Hawaii called the red crested cardinal. After the babies are born the mom takes off and the dad is the one that feeds the babies. And not just until they fledge...oh no....he feeds them for one year!!! Talk about a difficult child

The chick does feed himself, it was the adult cock who initiated that feed- I don't think it's out of the ordinary- remembering he's only 8 weeks old :)

first bath- my otherhalf was the 'choosen one' 8) the hen is quite affectionate and will fly to you- she loves nothing more than to sit on your shoulder and walk around the house- more so than the cock who will fly off at whim (more often than not) but who is eating completely independently on his own, though both are beautiful little birds in their own right.

no, I have promised her to my mother- if that falls through I will hang onto her a little longer and then decide- after all you can't keep them all- I have bred the one I wanted to keep (and am keeping). ;)

At least you'll be able to see her by keeping her in the family. :D

On that second pic, see if you can edit out the background into a solid color. Something light like pale yellow or blue. I think that would make that fabulous bird stand out even more :D

thanks guys :D this was my first attempt at flight photography.

Mel- I prefer not to edit at all as I like to view unaltered pics myself- with that said- if the conditions are right, the flash of my camera 'darkens' the room so all focus is on the object being photographed- I will try again tomorrow :)

70 days (10 weeks)

this is the last update for these chicks

hen is eating independently now and has been for the last 4 days,

h/r edged boy was meant to go home on the weekend past, but is still with me until this weekend as my brother wants to be home all day to make sure the chick settles in okay.
