Help needed from aussie breeders!

Post by dylbagz »

Have just had a very nice turquiso-ino/creamino (whatever you want to call it) come into my possession in a deal where a I bought a dude's cage and bird playground and he threw in the ringneck for free (I paid $50 for the lot  ). It is a great bird, good colours, it was handraised and is extremely tame, but is looking to nest as well. I don't want to sell it, cause it's not the right thing to do by the dude, it was his pet and he had to get rid of all his bird stuff, which went to me. But I am interested in knowing how much the bird would be worth if you were looking to buy a mature creamino ringneck, as if I breed it, I will handraise and sell the babies (so I know how to price them etc).

Any help appreciated,

Cheers

hi there,
a good website to check out australian prices on birds from decent breeders is Australian Bird Link (just google it) you may find a suitable mate for it. what you are looking for i would expect to pay around $250 for a mature good quality bird. as for hand reared babies, i think it really comes down to how well they are socialised and again the quality of the bird. but i think $150 - $250 would be around the price of a good quality hand raised turq-ino baby at the weaned staged. i mean have a think what you would be willing to pay for the bird.
this is just what i have found in South Australia. in areas where ringnecks and their mutations are more common etc you may be looking at a much less price.
hope this helps :)
