Our first eggs ever!!!! Any idea what color they'll be?

Post by blueindianringneck »

Sky our Blue male Indian ringneck, and Dandelion... our... what ever she is female indian ringneck (Yellow head & Tail, green body. We've been told she's a green lacewing, and that she's a green series clear head clear tail since there are no "lace" areas of the wings. Just plain green) are now on 3 eggs! This is our first bird breeding season EVER and we are really excited!

Any idea what color the babies will be? They should hatch in about 23 days right?

the bird appears to be a pallid (lacewing), a blue male with a pallid female if neither of them are split to anything you will get all green babies the males will be split to both blue and pallid the females split to only blue

so all will be visual green? darn. Was hopping for something more interesting lol. Thank you tho!
Have you seen any bird like her before? The people that got her didn't even know what she was at first.
Also, do you think she'll lay anymore eggs? Is 3 typical?

The Green Pallid is a very common bird now days. If she was a Clear Head Clear Tail bird she wouldnt have a clear head as only the Males get the clear head in this mutation. Also the Clear Head Clear Tail mutations maintains the depth of colour of the Normal bird and isnt lighter like in your bird. You will notice if your chicks hatch that they will be darker than the Hen. If you get any Blues in the nest then she must be split blue.

She could lay more eggs, 4 would be average but 3 or 5 is not uncommon.

The first chicks should hatch about 29 or 30 days after the first egg was laid.

You're right! Today there are now 4 eggs! :) We are still hoping for something other than green tho. But they will be loved regardless lol
