Where to get bird bands?

Where does everyone purchase their bird bands for banding babies? Any good online sites?

I dont really understand how those bird bands work... Like, I do know that it is the ID of the bird, but the breeder has to mark his number and the numer of the bird there? It has many numbers but idk what they mean...

Most breeders once they band a bird will write the number in a bird register and once the Colour and Sex are known add that to the register too.
There are a few different codes for the bands.

The basic one would be just a ring with a number for instance you might get 10 bands numbered 01 to 10.

To this you could add a year so it may have 12 01, 12 02 and so on.

You could also add some letters which usually are the breeders initials or there business name initials. AA 12 01, AA 12 02.

Some ring manufacturers use a certain colour to define a year too. so blue could be 2012, red could be 2013.

Some breeders may just use different coloured rings with no numbers on the to show different lines or mutations.

Theres no right or wrong way but all up to personal preference.

Yeah, I personally want them to mark the year and so I can record the genetic makeup and sex of my babies.
