A new breeder

Post by memento »

Hi guys iv'e tried reading past posts but having difficulty finding answers.
Last year we bought to IRN separately and introduced them so they spend all the time together around oct/nov last year the female started grooming the male
then vice verse, the male then started feeding the female and a few weeks later he started to try and mount her unsuccessfully.
We put this down to his age as we believe he is only a young bird but not sure.My question is they have started again this year is the anything i can do to help i.e special food, nest box which is in place already, conditions for happy breeding.
Any advice would be great thank

The birds have and time to settle to your routine and you should be successful this time around. Observe their rituals and if the problem recurs then post details.

Have they got a good stable pirch? I feed mine a lot of different fruits and veg aswell as seeds at breeding season, they get fruit ect all year but they get a lot more at breeding season.High calcium foods are good to help with egg laying.
