Hello Trudie

Wow, sorry for the late response, been so busy!

Once the eggs hatch, make sure you feed the mother IRN fresh greens, fruits, and veggies. It’s really important you continue to offer these foods while the IRN female is feeding her babies. Feeding her those food items allow optimal health to the baby Ringnecks, not to mention nice fat babies. Also, continue to use the standard seed diet along with the fruits and veggies. The babies need grains, which most are high in fat, for proper development.

You also wanted to know about removing the babies for hand feeding. Most breeders remove the babies at around 10 days or two weeks. I recommend three weeks. Why? For two reasons, the mother Ringneck can far better surpass your feedings and keep the corps full. We can’t care for IRNs like their mothers can, along with excellent care; they need it for proper development of their digestive tract. The mother feeds the chicks a special milky substance that’s packed with enzymes and vitamins. This helps the chicks grow healthy and stronger.

Hope this helps! :D
