I have just purchase two 'male' rainbow ringnecks.
Breeder says he can tell the rainbows will be male and lacewings female, cos the mother was rainbow and father was lacewing?
How true is this?
The breeder seems legit and has been breedeing for about 10yrs now?
The babies i am getting are blue rainbow males, 4 months old, aviary birds, how well will they tame as they will be indoor birds?
Thanks

It is true that when you breed some colour mutations you can know whether the babies are male or female depending on their colours.... but I don't know if it is true in your particular case. I'm sure someone else on here will be able to shed some light on the subject. You also need to know if the parent birds are split to anything.

Hey,
The breeder is wrong below are the results for the parents of your babies.
1.0 blue pallid (lacewing)
x 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid (Rainbow)
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 blue pallid
50.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 blue pallid
50.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
As you can see both male and female babies will both lacewings and rainbows.
It is possible to nest sex but not in your case.
I have a male green split blueino and a rainbow hen so any albino or lutinos will be hens and any pallidinos will be male any creaminos will be hens.
Regarding the taming i have no idea.
Thanks Glenn

SCB, not Glen but
1.0 is male
0.1 is female
on the bredding results.
As for as your first question, if the hen is not Lacewing and only the male is Lacewing then only the hens in the nest box would show Lacewing, as this is sexlinked. Then the breeder would now only visual lacewing would be hens and males would be split for lacewing.
