First time breeding Pair?

Post by 333greenbean333 »

Hi
I have my first time breeding violet hen on 4 chicks right now and I plan to take them out for handraising at age 3 weeks. I was wondering Do you think it would be alright to let the hen raise 2 of the four and I raise 2? just so she gets experince?

But If i take 2 out will she not want to look after the ones in the box?
please help. :?
thanks, David :D

I have a first time pair with 1 chick left in the nest and I took 2 out. I took the bigger ones and left the little tiny one for mum to look after. I keep an eye on the little one and have taken it out and given it a feed and then put it back in with mum and she doesnt seem to mind. the little one is atleast 2 weeks younger than the others.
