Hi Phil
How old are they and does the male have his ring yet?
I'm asking because the behavior you described for the female strikes me as a lot more "male-like". But if I'm wrong I'll gladly stand corrected by anyone else.

Re: How to determine a parrot's favourite treat???
AlphaWolf AJPeter has a good point. IRN's are incredibly food driven and will invariably eat the tastiest morsel/treat first. Think of a kid in a candy-store: chances are the kid will leave the store with his favorite candy 9 times out of 10. Do be warned that today's favorite might be tomorrow's tr...

Where does the ring appear first?
Hi everyone I have a really stupid question but it bugs me so please forgive my ignorance. Is there a certain part of a IRN male's head that the ring becomes visible first or does it have more to do with which feathers he's happening to molt first? The reason I'm asking is because I have a surgicall...

Madas Thanks for the reply. An infrared camera would indeed be a great aid (I might dare say an invaluable aid in my case). How do they work? InTheAir, you have a great point about a trigger sending a bird into a screeching fit. I had a pair of Sun Conures that raised babies fairly frequently and whenever a Hadida bird would fly overhead and called it sent the Conures into a screaming frenzy. Believe me: that's one type of surround sound ...

How long between hatching and leaving the nest?
Hi everyone. I've been reading quite a lot on the forum about breeding lately but can't seem to find the answer to the above question. My reason for asking is explained in the following paragraph. Enderunn, I really think you have talent for designing and building that's why I was joking about getting you to help me build an aviary. It's certainly possible to tame a parent-reared bird. I had a pair of Sun Conures a few years ago that took treats from me. I left them to raise their babies on their own and whenever those babies left the nest it took me a day or two to get the babies to accept treats from me. They became tame to t...

Enderrun That looks like a great cage for indoor use. Hi You are not worrying in vain as most bird-owners will tell you birds hide symptoms of illness incredibly well. Hawk24, If you're going to be away from your bird for hours on end having two birds is a good idea if you can afford it.
