Sometimes if i just really have to get Rocky someplace, I steal and shake MR FROGGIE! I am not encouraged to have Mr Froggie on most days, so you can see how putting him in danger might get Rocky's attention.

Re: Hello and Introducing Sunny
My birds don't seem to care at all about the dogs. However, once in a rare while one of them will surprise me by being out. At those times I am extra glad that I keep the dogs out of that room when I'm not supervising. If I were designing Sunny's life I would get her out of that cage right away (oth...

Cage doesn't look as small as some, though I note it's in front of a window.....
I was concerned about cage size, just because I always am.

Re: My first IRN - comment on age & sex please
I don't think it is the case that your birds can never have time out together. Personally, I was not willing to take any chances, but your IRN is just a baby. He may grow up to love your Budgie, and they may well be able to share time. It's just that IF something goes badly, the consequences could b...

Re: Introducing a new friend
My male had a female Budgie for companion, and he liked her well until I brought home another male Ringneck. It was love at first sight. I thought the Budgie was a suitable companion until I saw how he simply stepped into another dimension with the other Ringneck. It matters a lot how many Ringnecks...

Hi. You can buy an Indian Ringneck in a pet store (though I wouldn't) in the United States, but they are illegal in a very few areas on the East Coast. New Jersey is mainly where I'm thinking, but I haven't checked the law lately as I'm in Maryland and we're fine. I would urge you to exercise EXTREM...

Re: My first IRN - comment on age & sex please
Don't forget that when one bird lands on the other bird's cage, the bird inside may bite the toes of the bird outside. It's easy to see an IRN could remove a Budgie's toe, but as well a Budgie's bite could become infected and cause the IRN to lose a toe or worse.

Well, tonight is a sad night on the Budgie Fans thread. Two of my boys died. They seemed fine this afternoon, but when I went for tuck ins tonight, Magenta and Dr. Scott were on the floor. Re: very new to ringnecks laying eggs.
I appreciate and support Wessel's thorough presentation of points to consider before breeding birds. I feel breeding should be undertaken only after a good bit of consideration, if at all.
However, my comment should be taken at face value, simply pointing out a fact that is often overlooked.

Re: Hello Everyone - I'm a novice owner
They are eating the sunflower and safflower (that's the larger long white seed) - my birds would agree with their choice. Nobody in my house seems to like those largest, dark brown, round seeds. Not even my wild birds like them! My Ringnecks will only eat the smaller millet and oat groats (the long ...

Ditto. Before you consider clipping again, really ask yourself if clipping is the appropriate thing. In my opinion, it almost never is, even when done without making the bird bleed.

Hi. I have two thoughts - 1) Give us a photo of the food mix you got so maybe we can make any suggestion about it. Let the photo be close enough so we can identify each piece. 2) I would exploit Ruby's greater willingness to interact. Jacky will learn by watching her success. I don't mean he will do...

Hi Omar, You are right when you feel that forcing the birds hurts more than it helps. She has not gone wild; she's scared, as you noted. Review your actions towards her as well as her housing. Give her time and space. You should probably also communicate with the seller for help.

I couldn't begin to talk about birds but we do know, for mammels, the quality of the food and how well it's digested affect poop quantity and quality. More efficient digestion = less poop.
