Kristen you might want to take Rufus out of the room altogether. Ringo feels he is a big threat to his mate and he's not going to get the breeding done if he feels he has to fight off this intruder.

Their first real molt comes about 18 to 20 months old. Birds molt and grow feathers every day but an adult bird will have a hard molt once a year after breeding season and a small one or 2 in between, really depends what kind of climate they live in and if they are indoors or outdoors.

Because one is bigger I would not try to house them together. Your first bird has already established his home and probably will not stand for another bird in with him. Fights break out fast and one is already nipping at feet.

Unfortunately they can still fly pretty well with a wing clip, the bird may have to have a very close clip if it doesn't stop flying into walls. Did the vet trim them? Take her back and get more taken off or she will hurt herself. It would be nice if they made helmets for them :D

If there is nothing he needs at that moment and is just trying to get your attention ignore it. Baby IRN's normally wean at about 10 to 14 weeks old. You can start offering him veggies and fruit now but he will most likely play with it but then he will start tasting it. Cheerios and Fruit Loops are ...

8 to 10 weeks they should be ready for cages. If you plan on selling these babies and keeping them as pets a flight cage would give them too much indepenence and be harder to tame once they go to their new home. Keep them in separate cages and handle them frequently before selling.

I think your baby was clipped to soon. They should be clipped after they are fully weaned. They need time to lose the baby fat and develope strong wing muscles before they accually take flight then they have to learn how to land safely. Clipping before the baby is weaned can make the baby very insec...

You might want to put them together when young and not have them as pets. Pets sometimes don't do well in a breeding program. I would do more research on breeding and handraising before you get a pair to breed. Don't buy the horse before the cart so to speak. :D

Are you going to breed them or just a companion? Male or Female could do for companion. Sometimes when you introduce new birds to the flock they don't except them well and could injure the baby. How old is your first bird?
